FAQs

 

Q: What are the differences from other coatings?
A: Our fluoropolymers provide:

• The ultimate in durability (20-30 year life)
• Almost no weathering
• Enhanced and long term retention of original appearance
• Prevention of various types of rust, tarnish, corrosion, fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling
• Stops virtually any kind of deterioration
• Destruction of microbes on contact (including bacteria, virus, algae, mold, mildew, barnacles)
• Safe (0 VOC, non-flammable, ADA rated non-slip wet or dry, USDA approved)

Q: What temperature should the substrate be when the coating is applied?
A: Temperature not less than 50 or more than 90 degrees F.

Q: How long does it take Super Shield coatings to dry and cure?
A: Typically dry to tack is 1 to 3 hours; traffic 10 to 16 hours; total cure 7 days with normal temperatures and humidity. Curing time can be accelerated with the use of heat & air.

Q: Can Super Shield coatings be re-coated?
A: Yes, our fluoropolymer coatings can be re-coated any time after curing.

Q: Can the Super Shield coatings be repaired if damaged?
A: Yes, sand edges and re-coat. Unlike other finishes, these products blend, level and re-bond.

Q: Should the applicator wear protective clothing and a mask?
A: As with all coating applications skin & respiratory protection is recommended.

Q: What is the preferred environment for applying the coatings?
A: Relative humidity less than 90% max.

Q: How does high humidity most affect the quality of the finish?
A: Coatings struggle to flash and level and sometimes blush in high humidity.
