This fluoropolymer coating absolutely prevents oxygen from gaining access to the surface of the metal which prevents further rusting or corrosion. | In 1988 the above steel plate was quickly sanded at the top and at the bottom, the middle taped off and then coated with Super Shield fluoropolymer. The uncoated area in the middle continued to rust. The strip on top and at the bottom stopped all further rusting and corrosion because oxygen could not get to the surface. |
The photos on the left are dramatic proof that fluoropolymer coatings are vastly superior to the traditional forms of corrosion prevention. These nuts and bolts were subjected to 1,000 hours of salt spray testing (ASTM B117). The fluoropolymer coated nuts were easily removed due to the anti-seizing, anti-galling, anti-stick properties of this coating.
